Job Description


Research & Development Chemist 

The Analytical Chemist reports directly to the  R&D group, who is responsible for the day to day operations. This includes analytical method development for the hemoglobin products, software validation, HPLC maintenance, evaluation of expendables such as analytical columns, reagents, calibrators and controls, and FDA submission work.

Duties/Work Ethic

•         To work safely and in accordance with FDA Regulations in an ISO 13485 and 9001 environment.

•         To ensure adherence to laboratory procedures and best practices

•         To report hazards & incidents in a timely manner, according to Trinity reporting procedures

•         To maintain focus on assigned goals, objectives, and targets

•         Personal integrity and good work ethic

 

Experience/ Responsibilities:

•         Preferably 5 years plus experience in a similar position

•         Proven demonstrated knowledge of separation science

•         A  strong background in HPLC instrumentation

•         Preparation and execution of HPLC analytical method development

•         Ability to analyze problems, prioritize issues, and develop timely and cost-effective solutions

•         Analytical method validation documentation

•         Collecting & preparing samples for analysis

•         Reporting accurate sample analysis results in a timely manner

•         FDA submission processes and general laboratory procedures

•         Chromatographic interpretation of hemoglobin variants

•         Execute testing in support of HPLC analytical methods for hemoglobin variant testing

•         Review data for analytical method development

•         Write software validation testing protocols

•         Documenting results and write reports for FDA submissions

•         Prepare manuals and presentations for new products

•         Interacting with customer base for training and support

•         Assist with instrument sustainment and maintenance programs

•         510k clinical trial experience a plus

 

Required Skill Sets and Practices

•         Detail-oriented

•         Organized and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously

•         Demonstrate initiative while working as part of a team

•         Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office software; Excel, Word, PowerPoint and graphic editing software

•         Background in HPLC instrumentation and separation science, HPLC analytical method development, analytical method validation, FDA submission processes and general laboratory procedures

•         Good communication skills, verbal and written

•         Customer relations such as training, presentations, and problem-solving

               

Educational Qualifications/Systems Knowledge

•         Minimum BS in Chemistry or related field, Masters or Ph.D. will be highly regarded. A strong scientific knowledge of HPLC method development is desired.

•         Computer skills including data acquisition and integration software, computer language (BASIC or C++), computer hardware, networking and serial communications, and LIMS (or similar)
