Job Description

Lab Technician, Level 1 CEF

Monday-Tuesday, Thursday-Saturday

Off Wednesday & Sunday

5 am -1:30 pm


Job Summary and Purpose:


Aseptically process SPF eggs for CEF production. Clean and sterilize glassware. Handle general supplies, and raw materials for daily production. Routinely clean laboratory work areas. Assist in the production of CEF cells to be used in final vaccine product in a clean room environment.


Responsibilities and Key Duties:


Reception and Disinfection of SPF Eggs:

•        Receive eggs from Incubation on the dock area

•        Count, and verify the number of eggs received as written on appropriate paperwork

•        Disinfect, and candle all eggs received following appropriate SOPs

•        Transport eggs to the Laboratory, ensuring to complete all necessary paperwork concurrently


Laboratory Operations:

•        Work with team to clean and disinfect laboratory per approved SOPs

•        Record cleaning on appropriate documentation concurrently

•        Stock laboratory with general supplies. Use “First In, First Out”

•        Assist in cycle counting of materials and supplies as needed

•        Remove general waste from the lab areas and tale it to the dock area for pick up

•        Deliver samples to Quality Control in a timely manner


Preparation of Clean and Sterile Glassware:

•        Clean, prepare and wrap glassware, equipment and supplies

•        Learn why the equipment and instruments are wrapped the way they are for use in a clean room

•        Sterilize equipment and supplies via autoclave when required

•        Keep neat, detailed and accurate records completed concurrently with processes

•        Clean and disinfect the kitchen and other non clean room areas according to established procedures ensuring appropriate records are filled out at the completion of the task


Receipt and Storage of Raw Materials and Supplies:

•        Count, and verify all items received on the CEF dock area against proper documentation

•        Unbox, and label all frozen items and place them into designated location

•        Disinfect, and transfer all materials, and supplies to designated location


Required Qualifications
  Technical / Functional Competencies:


Technical Knowledge: Proficiency Level (Beginner (B), Intermediate (I), Advanced (A))


Computer Skills: B

Hazard Material Handling: I

Math Skills: I




Education – High School Diploma, AA, BA/BS


Work Experience – Biologics Preferred. Life Science Lab experience preferred.  Good Documentation practices and Attention to Detail Required.


Other (consider certifications, specialized knowledge and/or training, etc.) – N/A

Working Conditions:


Company provided scrubs, hairnets, beard nets (if required), and dedicated production shoes are required in all CEF working areas. Employees will also be required to wear clean room garments inside of all classified Lab areas.
